MD 20: AD LISBOA 0-1 FC BERLIN
LISBOA FALL SHORT AS THEIR OVERCONFIDENCE IS PUNISHED
Written by: Eima Rhitouard
As both teams face off following a destruction of their opposition, Lisboa beating Paris by six and Berlin beating Warsaw by five, we prepare for an ever so important six-pointer. Berlin find themselves on 21 points, with Lisboa on 24 points. Ahead of the match, Berlin had lost two big players, Fantastico & Nacho, who were promptly replaced by Beckenbauer's alleged bastard son, Bernard Beckbauer.
With tensions high, neither side felt brave enough to make something happen in the snow. The first half registered zero chances from either side, with only one shot from Lisboa being blocked by Berlin's Lev Yashin. Both teams were happy to share the possession but couldn't do anything with it.
Going into half-time, Lisboa felt confident to keep going with their system, as did Berlin. In the 71st minute, following a period of great defense from Berlin, following a set piece, Floyd Lawton would continue his brilliant goal-scoring form as he put one past Bingo-Bango.
The rest of the half would fizzle out, with Lisboa finding no inspiration for a possible come-back.
Berlin now finds themselves tied on points with Lisboa and Amsterdam, sitting on 24. With 10 matches to go, they find themselves just five points off the elusive top six placement.
