MD 18: ATHENS KERBEROS 1–1 NOMADES DE PARIS
By: Nicklas Ulykke
The two struggling clubs Athens Kerberos and Nomades de Paris came into the matchday 12th and 15th, respectively, with Paris being just 3 points behind the Greek side. The relatively unexciting bottom of the table battle was surprisingly an interesting watch, as the game contained good moments.
The deadlock was broken in the 35th minute thanks to Frenchman Aren Taremi with a smashing header past Athens keeper Midas Hepatitis after beautiful buildup play which saw captain R.J. Avery and Lanzo Čončić combine with a one two. Čončić delivered and Taremi headed home to give the Parisians the lead.
Paris led the game at halftime even while having inferior possession, 43% to 57%. Considering they had only won 3 times in 17 games, this was a good accomplishment, however, the game was not over and the second half would prove to be decisive.
4 minutes after the restart, debutant Marvin Jaxon got his Kerberos career off to a start with another header, the second of this game. The young American was assisted by Hamza Wahid, another exciting Athens talent. It was now all square in Greece.
The game finished as a 1-1 draw as both teams felt they deserved more from a relatively even game, ending on 53% to 47%, Athens with the superior amount of possession and shots on target. Humphree Klock had a good game in goal for the French side with 2 saves.
Their positions in the table remained unchanged after Matchday 18 was complete.
