London hit Brussels for four
By: Ray Porter
Brussels had been on a purple patch after defender Poe Finglebottom joined, but those highs seem to have all but vanished. London had to win this game to keep their outsider’s chance of defending the league title alive.
And they would show early that they were going to go all out for this aim, as they would take the lead after 10 minutes: A Ray Peest shot was blocked by the Brussels keeper to the front, where Tomar Jr. would convert the rebound. Just ten minutes later, Ibanez Lopez would win the ball in his half, play it up field towards Tomar Jr. who sends in Amine Amzal with a one-two, the Moroccan would finish into the bottom right corner and double London’s lead. Brussels failed to score an almost identical goal to London’s first, as Diego misses the ball on a rebound. London would capitalize on this, as Amzal sent in Ray Peest for a 1 on 1 which the Left Winger scored.
At half-time, London led 3-0, courtesy of Brussels botched attempt of playing a high line. But Brussels would be punished for that a third time, as Ray Peest scored another after a through ball, why Brussels didn’t adjust is beyond any reasonable thinking. At 4-0, the game was decided after about 60 minutes. However, in the 68th minute, Ian Blackburn would lay off a ball for Joram Joestar near the edge of the box, with a bad touch, he’d hoist the ball up only to volley it in past the entire London defense. Brussels captain Emir would later send to Paris into the box who squared it to Forder. The striker had no problems converting, but their 84th minute constellation goal wouldn’t prove enough for a comeback, as London beat Brussels 4:2 on the road.
