Brussels 2-3 London
Brussels goalkeeper unwillingly helps London get their first win of the season
by: Domenico Jordano
The beginning of the season wasn't the sweetest to Wembley Wanderers. London team gave away the lead in the home match against Vienna, so now they went on to fix their situation in Brussels. Last season's runners-up didn't wait long to release their power: Ray Peest opened the score on 24th minute after Amine Amzal's "short corner". It almost went off-script for London when Brussels player Babatunde attempted to equalize the score, but the unsuccessful shot only made the away team angry. Amine Amzal wasn't satisfied with assist alone, so he ran quickly into a counterattack and made the score 0-2. In the second half Patrick Forder brought vice-champions back to reality by scoring a goal for Brussels. Pierre Toilet reached the ball with his hand, but it only changed the direction of the ball. London felt the victory falling off their hands and toggled the aggressive attack mode, but it only made their defense vulnerable and open to mistakes. The worst mistake was when defenders left Tijani one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Again, Pierre Toilet managed to reach the ball, but collided with opponent striker and let the ball peacefully bounce off a goal post. Now the score was tied. Yet the worst mistake of the match was still ahead: A goalpost saved Brussels from losing their point after Wanderers' shot, but Chad Cockney accidentally kicked the ball right into his own net. This way London recovered from the last match and defeated Brussels 2-3.
