Lennon, in the Lisboa dugout, lead his team straight into failure once more. It was Madrid who'd open up strongly, quickly taking charge of the match and applying the pressure on Lisboa's loose defense. Their efforts paid off as a hopeful long ranged effort in the 5th minute from Nico Alvarez found its way into the back of the net.
Lisboa would get themselves a similar goal in the 23rd minute. Knull set up Cagatay Yilmaz for a ranged shot which hit the post and, amusingly, bounced off the back of Madrid goalkeeper Becky Blake.
Nico Alvarez got his brace in the 42nd minute after dribbling past Gerkinov and Lennon, regaining Madrid their lead. Following this goal, Lisboa decided to make some controversial attacking substitutions, taking off Kalle Knull for Marcus Wood and Rico Doekoe for Adam Renard. This decision left everyone in the audience confused, as Templeton and Gerkinov were left on the pitch.
The decision proved to be a bad one, as Madrid would extend their lead in the 65th minute through Pepe Mancini. Lisboa lessened the blow with the help of substitute Marcus Wood, who plowed through the left channel to score, silencing the critics.
