MATCHDAY 3 REVIEW by Samantha Lennon, Amsterdam Evening News
Deportivo Madrid 1-0 FC Berlin
Madrid, captained by Jethro, have had an awful start to the season, despite having arguably the easiest run-in. A loss to Vienna and a draw away to Norden put them on 1 goal, 1 point going into this matchday. Similarly, FC Berlin have had a torrid start, losing both games so far. On a positive note, they did play some of the better teams in FSL. They play good football, but can't get results.
Inside 5 minutes, Berlin had the better start and should've gone 1-0 up, but a mishit from Tomar Jr. kept the score 0-0. For the next 30 minutes or so, the game was pretty even until Madrid captain Jethro got his head on an excellent Kalea Wilson cross, putting his side up 1-0, 10 minutes before the break. Poor defending from Berlin.
At half time, Dos Santos replaced Oates for the German side. Ignoring substitutions, nothing happened in a second half with very minimal chances. Berlin would take positives from their performance, but not from the result, as the game finished 1-0 Madrid.
