The playoff round began with the most intriguing quarter-final: two strongholds of FSL, Deportivo Madrid and London Wembley Wanderers, challenging for the right to face one of this season's debutants in the semifinals.
Right at the start of the match, Madrid's explosive duo reminded of their presence: Loord Bendtner scored a goal from Shmurda's assist in the third minute! London's nightmare was going to continue with Bobby going one-on-one with the goalkeeper, Pierre Toilet. But luckily for the away team, they had Yuri Haji, who tripped Shmurda right in front of the box, without a card or a penalty, only getting Madrid a free kick, which turned out to be unsuccessful. The first half ended with Deportivo having a minimal lead: nothing pleasant, yet nothing critical for Wanderers.
Madrid continued pressuring opponents in their box in the second half. However, London released their counter-weapon - Ray Peest, who equalized the score in the 64th minute, after a counterattack! And right after that, Tomar Junior, more like Neymar Junior, dribbled through two defenders, turned around and scored the second goal for London! But their Spanish blood didn't let Madrid give up this early. Both teams were keeping narrow, aggressive line-ups, showcasing their will to fight. Shmurda's sunny braids were trying to head the ball home, London's Tomar Jr picked a yellow card in solidarity with the Black & Yellows, but nothing could save the home side from the English colonizers.
Madrid had a great start for both this match and the tournament. They can be proud of winning the toughest group against Zagreb and Brussels. But it's London Wembley Wanderers who march on to the semi-finals with a 1-2 victory.
