MD 14 DEPORTIVO MADRID 0–0 ZAGREB NK
A DISAPPOINTING CLASH AS ZAGREB FAIL TO UNLOCK MADRID
Written by Saad Maan, Forta Evening News
As of late, Madrid have slowed down substantially, this is despite possessing what may be the most lethal attack in FSL, on paper. Zagreb, on the other hand, have matched Vienna for most of the season, sitting in 2nd ahead of MD 14.
Initially, it was Zagreb who would dominate possession. However, after recycling possession, Madrid would launch an attack of their own. In the 26th minute, Bobby Shmurda was sent through on goal after Eye Amgroot intercepted a poor pass from the Croatian's. Unlike himself, the Grenadian striker hit the post with a powerful strike.
The first half would conclude with a 0-0 scoreline, without anything significant, other than Bobby Shmurda hitting the woodwork, happening.
The second half would give us more of the same. Zagreb kept on recycling possession without finding a clear-cut chance. Madrid, after substituting Shmurda, remained a threat on the counter-attack. Super-sub Marcus Wood would make himself known quickly, as his first touch of the half resulted in a dangerous chance, just narrowly missing the goal.
Loord Bendtner who has had a tough time as of late, was sent through on goal in the 85th minute, but failed to get his effort on target as he slipped.
The match concluded with a 0-0 scoreline, leaving many fans questioning why they even bothered watching these two supposed “top teams”. Despite picking up a point, Zagreb fall to third as London pass them in the standings. Madrid stays in fifth as they get closer to fourth spot.
