FC Amsterdam skyrockets up the table after winning a six-pointer
By: Ray Porter
With both teams being on three points after four matchdays, the fixture between FC Amsterdam and Brussels KV had been named a relegation six-pointer in advance. Amsterdam edged out a victory through the mistreated Pepe Lozano and a surprising brace by their left back Shugaar Plum.
Amsterdam took an early lead through a low cross by Lozano from the right wing which found Plum at the back stick. The Englishman had no problem toe-poking the cross in. However, their lead was short-lived. With a Burrell corner finding Gay Phillips, who headed in a surprising equalizer. In the 35th minute, Amsterdam restored their lead as Plum scored from the edge of the box after a pass from an outstanding Lozano, who was subbed off later, despite delivering two assists.
The second half came and went without too many highlights until Will O'Neill scored in the 90th minute after a through pass from Bai Chao. In the dying embers of the game, Joseph Kwon scored after a Balsic cross. The goal came too late for Brussels, and they couldn't mount a comeback. With this win Amsterdam jump up to 7th in the league, meanwhile Brussels are stuck in 11th place.
