Match Summary

Opening day relegation battle 6-pointer ends level
By Samantha Lennon

The least awaited game of the day, between the bottom 2 from Season 1, proved to teach us no different than we already know: both teams aren't very good. Tactically, Amsterdam set out in a 442, with Berlin going for a narrower diamond shape.

Arguably, FC Amsterdam should've led just before the 15 minute mark, as O'Neill played a perfect ball to the edge of the box, only for Boruta to send it high and wide. Amsterdam went into the half time break the much better team, however, still struggled to test Remmington between the sticks for Berlin.

On 73 minutes, FC Berlin opened the scoring after receiving the ball back after some bad distribution from the opposing keeper, where Kodai Senga got on the end of a perfectly timed Lawton through ball. However, as is all too well for Berlin, their lead would be short lived as easy-to-spot with a massive blue afro - Pepe Lozano - equalised pretty much straight after the kickoff. Lozano then had the chance to make headlines in extra time, with what could've been a deserved Amsterdam winner, but sent his shot wide of the keeper and wide of the post.
