Match Summary

MD 11: FC AMSTERDAM 2–0 KS WARSAW

Superior finishing nets the Dutch three points.

Written by: Saad Maan, Forta Evening News

Amsterdam, not satisfied with recent results, returned to their defensive approach. With hope of surging up the table, there was no better opposition than KS Warsaw, who have struggled all season.

The first half brought nothing worth mentioning. Warsaw's attempt to play the beautiful game was abruptly ended by Amsterdam's robust mid-block, refusing to allow passage through the center of the pitch.

Despite the lacklustre display of football, Amsterdam's crowd were cheering like never before. During half-time, KS Warsaw kept their strategy in the hopes of their domination being rewarded. Amsterdam, on the other hand, pushed their wide players all the way up, opting for more attacking outlets.

The Dutch's gamble was to be rewarded in the 60th minute as Brontë Sakarias found himself on the scoresheet once more. Jack David combined beautifully with the midfielder, putting him in a prime position to score.

In the 75th minute, Sakarias found himself dispossessed by Warsaw full back Alexander Lund, playing a seemingly harmless pass into the feet of Xavier Leftwich. Leftwich however, had his eyes elsewhere, as he ran past the ball. Harald Blåtand taking full advantage of the situation, scored Amsterdam's second and his first of the game.

Gutted by the clumsy goal, Warsaw couldn't fight back. This victory sees Amsterdam rise up the table, all the way to 10th. The Dutchmen have now gone unbeaten for three games in a row. Warsaw, on the other hand, dropped all the way to 14th, just one point above the relegation zone.
