Vienna's star signing finishes off FC Amsterdam
By: Ray Porter
This match was a battle between two teams that had remained unbeaten so far, as Vienna Kontinental challenged FC Amsterdam, which started with two draws into the season. As expected, Vienna took an early lead in the Seventh minute as Moritz Hoffmann set off to a good dribble and finished into the bottom left corner with an effort from outside the box. Matheus Dos Reis claimed the assist to a breathtaking goal.
This led to one of the poorer phases of the game as both teams were unwilling or incapable of creating chances. All that changed in the 38th minute as Kain and Hoffmann played a couple of one-twos as the latter ended up inside the box to make it 2-0 to the home side. This would be the half-time score. Although Amsterdam came back stronger, it was Vienna who would get a third goal as Hoffmann headed in a fantastic Rahman cross to finish his hat trick.
With both sides making adjustments to their approach, Amsterdam found a way back into the game, but a debut goal and assist for their striker Bai Chao who had an excellent game proved too little too late as the ref ended the game at 3-2 following Amsterdam's goals in the 87th and 90th minute. Substitute Will O'Neill was Amsterdam's second goalscorer in a game which sees them plummet to 10th place.
