Bebe Barry bangs in hattrick – Does Zagreb close the gap?
By: Ray Porter
Zagreb had the chance to put pressure on league leaders Vienna by beating relegation candidates FC Berlin. Berlin, however, needed a win after 12th placed Paris won surprisingly against Madrid.
And they started off well in their mission, going in front, courtesy of a Babatunde goal. Adolf Lund’s pass was intercepted by Babatunde, the ball falling into the feet of Niel Cooke, who sent the Tobagonian in. Owen Majmunovic flapped around in the 1v1 and couldn’t stop his shot. 8 minutes played, 1:0 to Berlin.
But their lead wouldn’t hold long, as Vargas played in an in-form Bebe Barry, who’s shot nearly broke the net. His superhuman strength really helped him hold off the defender there. Big Cheeto would strike again before the half hour mark, as he was found by Akiyama Hernandez on the edge of the box. Holding off a defender like it’s nothing, he scored a driven shot into the bottom corner.
With the half-time score 2:1 to Zagreb, Berlin needed a massive improvement in the second half. But the only goal of the half came through Bebe Barry, as he was scored a tap-in header after a Neagu cross. Barry finishing a hattrick of goals that all seemed to have profited off of his, alleged, steroid abuse.
Zagreb wins the game 3:1 and closed the gap to Vienna to 2 points. In their current form, it seems like this title is Zagreb’s to lose.
