MD 03 BELGRADE 4 - 2 NORDEN: REVIEW

Serbia reignites their hatred, this time against the Scandinavians, as they pummel them for their first victory of the season.

Written by: Saad Maan

Two sides that went winless in their first two matches, with Norden not scoring a single goal. Will one of the teams break their streak, or will both continue in their woeful ways? Over the years we've seen a wide variety of set plays from our FSL clubs, but in the 23rd minute, Norden showed us something they've kept hidden away for some time now. As Anon received the ball, he ran straight for the sideline. Upon arrival, with deft turns, he ran in circles around teammate Oliver Kat for eight (!) minutes. With the opposition equally confused as the spectators, Norden took advantage. A dizzy Anon retreated into defence as his teammates bombed forward. Defender Harry Upamaguire received the ball and quickly laid it off to captain Thor Odinson, known for his long shots, and he did not disappoint with a dipping shot into the bottom left corner. For what would become the theme of the match, in the 32nd minute, Nemanja Tomcevski made a darting run thought the Norden defence and was on the receiving end of Adrien Diego's through ball. After failing his Madrid trial, Tomcevski proved that they may rue their mistakes as he converted the chance. Just two minutes later, Norden were once again on the attack. Last season's Norden Player of the Season, Pingu Nootazuki, combined with Thor Odinson in a dangerous area, just outside the box. With Odinson, range is just like age, it doesn't matter. This time, Odinson surprises Becky Blake by smashing it into the top right corner.
Going into half-time, both teams were happy with the proceedings. Belgrade felt they were better set up for the half to come, whilst Norden were naturally happy with the scoreline. Right from the gates, Tomcevski sent a surprising pass to late runner Myth Bobo, who, not to be outdone by his teammate, scored with a lovely outside the foot effort. Despite Norden's efforts upfront, Tate's trademark missed header wasn't working. Instead, in the 72nd minute, Belgrade's Hinski held off the entire Norden defence, before playing it into Tomcevski, who once again, made no mistake. Ten minutes later, Hinski found himself in a familiar position. Like last time, he sends it through, with Diego on the receiving end this time. With the entire goal at his mercy, he takes him time, slotting it into the right corner to send Norden back to the South Pole, or wherever they come from. This result sees Belgrade rise up the table to 10th place, with Norden languishing in relegation.
