In the first match week after the FU cup, an in-form London faced off against the Turkish underdogs, Istanbul. The game unfolded with an air of expectancy as the Englishmen sought to be challengers in the league title race.
From the opening whistle, London demonstrated their intent to take an early lead. A mere seven minutes into the match, the Moroccan juggernaut, Amine Amzal netted an early goal in Brodie Williamson's net, receiving the ball right infront of the goalkeeper from a well-executed cross by Maki Barnes. He jumped and buried the ball in the left corner, capitalizing on the opportunity without hesitation.
The misery for Istanbul continued just seven minutes later when Amine, in tandem with Rahimi, exploited the Turkish defense once again. Amine swiftly turned, and confidently curled the ball into the right corner this time, completing a brace and putting the English side firmly in control.
London didn't afford the Turkish underdogs a moment's respite. In the 25th minute, Tomas Ibanez Lopez received the ball from Amine, he flicked it up with his right foot, shooting an extravagant volley into the top left corner of Istanbul's net, killing the Turkish hopes of a comeback.
As the halftime whistle blew, London comfortably held a three-goal advantage, leaving Istanbul struggling to create any meaningful opportunities. The sense of resignation from the Turkish side was palpable as they faced an uphill battle.
The second half unfolded with London maintaining pressure and engaging in midfield battles. Despite being 3-0 down, Istanbul made 4 substitutions, while London opted not to make any changes. The second half wasn't as brilliant as the first one, but it showcased Istanbul's keeper, Brodie Williamson's wonderful saves and efforts, that stopped London from humiliating them.
