MD 19: NOMADES DE PARIS 0-6 AD LISBOA

Lisboa thrash a struggling Paris side

Written by: Deek Rhyder

15th-placed Paris welcomed 9th-placed Lisboa for an important game for both sides, with Paris battling to escape the relegation zone, and Lisboa attempting to scrape into the top half of the table. Paris would use a 4-2-2-2, while Lisboa would implement a 3-2-3-2, with new player Groggily Bob earning his first start. Both teams entered this game knowing they had a chance to win it.

The first chance of the game came in the 12th minute. Lisboa player Batmo Biel would whip in a great cross for Alexander Whelan, but his header took a deflection and was easily saved. A couple of minutes later, Lisboa would score the first goal. David Roy, playing out of his usual Right-Back position, would find John Warhurst just outside the box. Warhurst took a couple touches, then beautifully placed the ball into the bottom corner. In the 23rd minute, Paris would have their first chance, with Hoffland playing in a dangerous cross for Taremi, but Matthew Lennon would get there first, and the ball was eventually cleared.

In the 30th minute, David Roy would find himself in another dangerous position after a great pass from Batmo Biel. Running down the wing, he played a lovely low cross for Kenan Bosnic, whose shot would hit the crossbar, and end up in the back of the net. The final chance of the half came when David Roy regained possession in the final third. He played another low cross for Bosnic, but the striker couldn't get to the ball first. They entered the locker rooms with a score of 0–2. Lisboa fans were ecstatic with their first-half performance, while Paris fans were greatly disappointed.

At halftime, Lisboa would substitute Cody Rodrygo for David Roy, and Nigel Thompson for John Warhurst. Paris opted to keep their current 11. The Lisboa subs seemed to work, as in the 54th minute, Thompson would find Bosnic with a great through pass, and the Bosnian had no trouble putting the ball in the net. This, and a couple other goals, would cause Paris Center-back Russell Kerk to face heavy criticism. For a short period after this goal, Paris kept sustained pressure on the Lisboa defense, but they weren't able to get a shot off. In the 67th minute, Lisboa would substitute Cagatay Yilmaz for Ahmed Zidane, in hopes of scoring even more goals. A couple of minutes later, a great Rodrygo pass would find Batmo Biel in the box. Biel, deciding to be unselfish, squared it to Bosnic, and the striker calmly finished to earned his hat-trick.
In the 80th minute, another wonderful pass from Rodrygo would find Batmo Biel in the box; the redhead midget slotted it underneath Humphree Klock, to extend Lisboa's lead to five. Following this goal, Captain Lennon would move himself to attacking midfield, in a bid to earn himself a goal. Rodrygo wasn't done, though; the star playmaker would whip in a great cross, and Yilmaz would rise above the Paris defenders to head it in, despite Klock getting a hand to it. This would be the last action of the game, and Lisboa ended up winning 6-0. The Portuguese club would climb up to 8th in the league standings, while Paris would sink to 16th and last, and they are now becoming one of the relegation favorites after a decent start to the season.
