Brussels beat Paris to storm up the table
By: Ray Porter
Brussels vs. Paris seemed to be a relegation dogfight before the transfer window, but ever since the arrival of Poe Finglebottom, Brussels has been pushing up the table. Anything but a win for them today, would have been an upset.
However, the first half saw nearly no highlights, as Brussels had problems getting the ball into good positions and thus failed to produce a shot on target, while Paris was too cautious in attack.
The first good chance of the game came through a Brussels counter: Adrian Diego searched for Šehbajraktarević in the middle of the park, the Bosnian held off his defender and sent the Spaniard in behind, who, while being pulled down, shot towards the bottom left corner and scored. Brussels' fans and players went wild over his goal. While still in ecstasy over their lead, Paris equalized in breathtaking fashion: Following a combination that included several back heel passes, Tyler Hunt popped up the ball to volley it in from the edge of the box in the 78th minute. Paris' 9th goal of the season seems to be a contender for goal of the year.
But Paris’ tie would only hold up for two minutes, a long kick from Goalie Cockney was knocked on by Šehbajraktarević for Forder to run onto, and the Englishman had no trouble chasing the ball into the box, scoring past Klock in Paris’ net.
This win catapults Brussels up into 6th place, they seem like a different side with Finglebottom in defence.
