Roma win a point, but lose their captain
By: Ray Porter
Roma SS against Kerberos had neutrals wondering one thing: Could Roma keep their form from the cup run which saw them finish third? Kerberos, who were eliminated in the group, had a lot of reconciliation to do for their fans.
But the first chance belonged to Roma, in the 15th minute, Moretti shots from the edge of the box, but was denied masterfully by the keeper. In a relatively calm first half, Danny Optic’s deflected shot which landed on the crossbar was the only other highlight.
Kerberos came out of the half with a vengeance, with Max Jaxon, who could leave Kerberos in this winter window, transformed. In the 48th minute, Jaxon headed a corner only narrowly over the bar. Just five minutes later, he misses from the edge of the box. Kerberos were punished for not scoring their chances, as Rulando finds Moretti with a through ball from a counter, and the young Italian kept his nerves in the 1v1, making it 1-0 to his side.
But Roma’s lead wouldn’t last, as debutant Bas Kurt sends in Jethro, who scored a great goal in the middle of the entire Roma defence. His nerves must be made out of ice. The last highlight of the game was an utterly disgraceful tackle by Nick Handles, who came through from behind against Henry Kamel, injuring Roma’s captain and star striker.
