Match Summary

Wanderers burn Hamburg to the ground in a 0-5 away victory

Domenico Jordano (Nightingale Press)

While London has been seen as an FSL giant from the start, the success of Hamburg was expected by nobody. Now the FSL newcomers had to prove their fans that their Top 5 position was not an accident.

First dangerous attempt was made by London's Tomar Jr. While his header was unsuccessful, the way visitors easily surrounded Hamburg's box and let their forward find a comfortable position in front of opponent's goal, was a first signal of Hamburg's defensive problems.

After feeling weekness of his opponents, Tomar Jr easily made a through pass from near the middle of the field to assist Amine Amzal on the opening goal of the game. The downfall of the home side has begun.

Oscar Piastri had a chance to equalize on the 31st minute, but he failed to reach the ball and it went back to Wanderers control. After missing his first dangerous attempt and successfully assisting on another, Tomar finally found his showtime and scored a goal, extending his team's lead to 0-2 on the 36th minute.

Hamburg were still recovering from conceded goals when their defender failed to clear the ball in the penalty box, and Ray Peest could easily send it for the third London's goal.

With 33% possession, 0 shots and 3 conceded goals, Hamburg already suffered a lot in the first half. But Wembley's captain decided to be ruthless and scored the fourth, just 6 minutes into the second half.

Seeing Hamburg desperately running forward and trying to cheer their fans with a goal of prestige, the hero of the match Tomar Jr exploited the situation and catched the striped team on a counter attack. 80 minutes, 0-5, a double for Amine and Tomar, and a disappointment for the whole of West Germany.

Matchday 8 brought Hamburg back to reality and reminded them that they are still new to this league and should respect its veterans. In the battle of new blood and old school, the elders came out victorious.
