MD 19: VIENNA KONTINENTAL 4-1 NORDEN FK
Written by: Domenico Jordano (Nightingale Press)
After London's in the previous matchday, the title race got way more interesting. Vienna has been left on top, but they needed to take all the three points from Norden to make sure they wouldn't lose their leadership before the next matchday. But one does not simply walk over Norden…
The first 20 minutes were just a fight of passes and interceptions. Norden's formation varied between 4-2-3-1 on the ball and 4-3-3 in defense, and Vienna pressuring the centre with a 4-2-2-2 shape. The half would fizzle out with a 0-0 scoreline, providing minimal entertainment for the spectators.
Just 10 minutes into the second half, Vienna unlocked the code to crash Norden's defense. The FSL sensation Max Jaxon stole the attention of opposing defenders, leaving the left part of the box free. This move let him pass the ball to Dos Reis and then to Moritz Hoffman, who scored the opening goal. The sucess boosted Vienna's confidence, so Jaxon went on to score a goal by himsel: the first header hit the post, but Norden's wall failed to grab the ball and allowed his opponent to take a second chance, which was successful for The Weapon of Max Destruction.
With a 2-goal difference on the scoreboard, now it was time for Norden to steal the game back. Away's front trio completed a beautiful tiki-taka to move the ball to Vienna's penalty box. Moise Bean saw the opportunity to show off, so he dribbled across the box, surrounded by the whole Home's defense, and put the ball masterfully into their net.
The 2-1 score was giving Norden hopes for a comeback win. However, Max Jaxon's rocket shot and his subsequent hattrick completion left all questions answered in this game.
Vienna can sleep soundly after their 4-1 victory, as they are now 5 points ahead of London and Zagreb. Norden were once again crashed by the unstoppable Max Jaxon.
