MD 12 VIENNA 5-1 ROMA: REVIEW

By: Conner Munist, Forta Evening News

After dropping points last Matchday the pressure was on Vienna to win to keep the gap from Zagreb. They had to face the team they lost to in the Cup. However, this time Vienna had Max Jaxon making his debut after joining from Kerberos.

He made an impact straight away, assisting Hoffmann, who scored 1-0. In the first half, there was only one team on the pitch, and it wasn’t long before Vienna scored again. Keetch sent a great through ball for Hoffmann, who scored another.

Roma were trying to hold on praying for Half time, but Vienna weren’t done yet, Hoffmann got himself an assist with an intelligent header setting up Bendtner who, after a few missed chances, finally scored.

Roma did have chances, but Rizzo missed his huge chance to get Roma back into the game. Vienna punished that mistake by scoring another goal. This time it was Rahman, meaning all of the Vienna front three scored. After 4-0 Vienna were ridiculing Roma with silly positional changes to pour salt into the wound. However, Roma did pull one back, Rizzo found an opportunity after a distracted Vienna gifted him a goal to make it 4-1.

An abysmal Roma think would have been happy to finish the game there, but Lord Bendtner was not done yet. A great piece of skill sets him up for a shot from a difficult angle. Bendtner still scored, riling a missile into the top corner, sending the Roma captain, Henry Kamel, into tears. Henry Kamel couldn’t start this game after being injured but came on at HT and offered nothing.

Despite Roma having a good cup campaign, they are struggling in the league. With Brussels now overtaking them, they find themselves in the bottom 4. They can be thankful Paris somehow didn’t win, as they are still 6 points clear of relegation. As for Vienna, this 5-1 win was a statement win. Max Jaxon has turned the odds back in Vienna’s favour, but Zagreb are still lurking.
