MD 12 ZAGREB 1 - 0 AMSTERDAM: REVIEW
Hungry Zagreb dominate as Amsterdam falls further down the ladder
Saad Maan, Forta Evening News
Two teams on opposite ends of the table, one fighting for their pride and the other fighting to keep up with league leaders Vienna. With both teams league rivals playing before, both needed a win in order to match results. All was set up to be a classic. With the match being important for both teams, caution was a priority.
The first half concluded with a grand total of three shots, with only two on target. Whilst the first half could be described as cautious, the second half was anything but.
As the Amsterdam players walked out, their faces dropped, they could see the notorious super-sub Marcus Neagu warming up. They knew what was coming. In the 58th minute of play, Scooter McGavin sent in a floated cross to Bebe Barry, who without a thought in his head accidentally headed it to the feet of Marcus Neagu. The Romanian joy seamlessly turned his body and fired a powerful volley into the bottom right corner, giving Zagreb the lead.
After the goal, Zagreb opted for a more defensive approach as Amsterdam tried just about everything - but just couldn't unlock their defence. Zagreb would continue their defensive efforts and were rewarded with a clean sheet and the three points.
In the post-match press conference, the Amsterdam captain complained about the physical contact between Bebe Barry and his wife Rose Piper. Labelling the Zagreb midfielder as "rapey" and referred to him as a "super predator". Rose Piper was seen in the back of the Zagreb's team bus as they left the stadium.
