Match Report Zagreb vs Roma Leg 2
By: Conner Munist
The first leg ended 0-0 Zagreb getting no away goals had them slightly worried even though their opponent was Roma, After the first leg being cagey looked like Roma wanted to keep the same tactics and aim for pens, but that plan was ruined quickly in the 7th minute, a rare assist from McGavin as he sends in a cross to the and only Barry. Many doubted his performance in the cup, but he silenced them early with a dominating header to give Zagreb the lead.
Roma tried to push for an away goal, but were tactically unable to create anything. In the second half, Roma decided to go more attacking, which would soon pay off.
Around ten minutes after halftime, Roma find the all important away goal, Viener with a great cross finds Cunningham with a diving header to swing the tie, Zagreb desperately needed another goal and upped the tempo but ten minutes after the first Roma goal, Zagreb is given a dagger. Rizzo sends in a perfect through ball for Vukovic who strikes it perfectly to make it 2-1. Another away goal, which pretty much ended the tie and would send the worst league team into the semi-final of the cup. A shock victory which had the Croats on their knees.
