The Football United League Cup Group A: The group of death gets off to a hot start

By: Drew Peacock

Results:

A pair of braces from Tomar Jr and Jethro made London Wembley Wanderers and LP Kerberos share the points: 2-2

Will O’Neill’s second half hat-trick helped FC Amsterdam rush to the top the group away to Nomades de Paris: 1-3

Alexei Alpha’s careless giveaway made all the difference as Zagreb NK gave all three points to rivals Vienna Kontinental: 0-1

Analysis:

London WW have to feel disappointed not to come away with all three points against LP Kerberos after having a lead and failing to hold onto it. The Greek club, making their cup debut, had just come off a two game loss streak in the league and will need all the points they can get to advance in this tough group. The stand out performances came from Tomar, Jethro, Senga, Amine, and Prince Jr.

Amsterdam have got to be feeling very pleased with the half-time adjustments made by their captain Jack David. They not only overcame the half-time, one goal deficit, they stormed back for three goals and a very strong team effort overall. Paris are going to need to recover well, as many have them picked to finish bottom. The stand out performances came from O’Neill, Jones, Nurse, Semmi and Chao.

Vienna have to feel relieved to have been able to get the win against Zagreb. Both teams have been in great league form, Vienna having the unblemished 10-0-0 record and Zagreb in 2nd with their 7-2-1 record. Marin Petrov’s three saves really negated everything Zagreb was able to do offensively against the league’s stingiest defence. The stand out performances came from Hoffmann, Petrov, Lund, Finglebottom, and McRoyale.
