FSL Player Focus – George Charles
By Hingle McCringleberry
Up next is George Charles, a ball playing winger from Huddersfield. Charles was picked up in the Winter Window by Belle Vale FC, where he’s had a distinctively average. On a prove it or lose it deal, it’ll be interesting to see who is interested in his services next season.
Who are you? “My names George Charles, I am a left sided and footed wide midfielder from Huddersfield, England. I want to play football, get the ball down at my feet, make aggressive runs, and beat my defender.”
What is your background? “In my early years of life I aspired to be in a band, music was my life and I learned the guitar. My mum died of cancer when I was 14 so it was me and my dad. After my mum died my Dad got me playing football, I spent hours and hours going to Huddersfield Hill games and practicing in my garden. At the age of 12 I joined my first club a Sunday league team called Lepton Lilacs in the outskirts of Huddersfield. I was not a good player and played as a defender but soon I was spotted by Leeds City scout Jamie Smank. It was my only opportunity in football and although my hometown club was Leeds biggest rivals I took the chance. Now, at the age of 17 my contract at Leeds has ended and I was picked up by Belle Vale Football Club on a season long contract.”
What are your current career aspirations? “My aspirations are to play alongside the Huddersfield Hill greats who I grew up watching. To win trophies and prove my worth to the Hillers. I would love to play for the great manager Alfred Burgess and play for MY club. I want to show all the young children out there it don’t matter who you are you can make it as a player. I appreciate all Leeds did for me in my career but I can’t wait to score against them again!”
Anything else? “I would also like to say scooter I remember when you broke my leg at age 18 yours will be broken soon.”
8 games, 450 minutes, no measurable impact. Sums up George Charles.
