FSL Player Profile – Andre Caceres

By Hingle McCringleberry

Andre Caceres – Club outcast, world cup hero. The diminutive DMF has made waves in FSL this season. Famously falling out with Bristol Manager Logan Marantz over his lack of playing time. That led to spending the second half of his season at Aberdeen, where he seems to have fit in better.

Who are you? “Hello, my name is Andre Caceres and I was born in Portugal but my parents are from Africa. My favorite food is fufu. I have been called the happiest player around because I always play with a smile on my face.”

What is your background? “As I said my name is Andre Caceres but no one knows my middle name, it’s an African name. My middle name is Ekon, yes Andre Ekon Caceres. The position that I play in is CDM. Many people don’t know this but I’m an adopted kid. My biological parents left me on the side of the road. As a family was driving, they spotted me and decided to take me to a foster home. I grew up watching football with the other kids at foster care and we used to play all the time during our free time. I was always the biggest and strongest kid there so I used to play at the back. My idol was Roy Keane because he was always the toughest guy on the pitch. At the age of 10, my foster parents were looking for a kid who was an athlete and when they saw me, they knew they had found something special. I have trained since the age of 10 and was accepted into a football academy at the age of 11, Bristol Bridge. My parents told me that they would move with me to England and help me out.”

What are your current career aspirations? “In FSL I aim to be known as the most talented and most dangerous midfielder there is and I want to inspire young adopted kids like me. I want to be the player that the team builds around, I also want to be club captain. Having already won the World Cup, I want to have the most trophies in FSL history, and I want to win the Midfielder Player of the Year award. I really don’t care about money that much but I would love to have a lot of it so I can develop my community. My love for football is stronger than my love for money. I want to be known as the kindest person and off the pitch but tough when it comes to playing.”

Tell us about your experience playing for Bristol. “After a few years playing in the academy I finally made my debut at the age of 19, it was an amazing night. After a few weeks went by I was having some communication issues with my manager, I was looking into other team who were willing to let me play a 90 minutes instead of 45 minutes at Bristol. Manager Logan Marantz eventually found out that I was talking to other teams about potential deals and he was not happy. He barred me from all league games in a completely unwarranted public tirade. As soon as the winter window came about, I found out from non-club sources that I had been sold to Aberdeen for half of my worth. I went to the public and said some bad things about the club that I regret and wish I could take back, but a decision was made and I knew I needed to do my best at Aberdeen.

Anything else? “No sir, I think I’ve told you everything! I’m looking forward to next season.”

Caceres’ deal to Aberdeen was one of the more explosive of the Winter Window, as a part of a multi team trade between Bristol, Aberdeen, and Neeps & Tatties.

Caceres has 1,256 league minutes this season, registering 0 goals, assists, and cards.
