Having recruited a bunch of new local talent, Athens were hoping to build on their last three games, getting 5 out of 9 points. Milano have also been in fine form since Vokovic's arrival, but still seem vulnerable.
It was Athens who would strike first, in the third minute. Debutants Nikolas Alexopoulous & Hamza Wahid combined, sending the former through on goal.
Despite both teams showing a willingness to attack, the first half would end with both sides registering a combined two shots. Whilst Vokovic's interesting ideas have previously worked, they clearly weren't this match. However, the headstrong interim captain did something unprecedented. Dropping his striker into midfield, taking his main goalscorer off, whilst chasing the game.
As expected, the changes resulted in absolutely nothing happening. Athens, comfortable in possession, were happy to sit back and waste time. Milano, on the other hand, were clueless. Without an outlet and goalscorer on the pitch, they failed to get a single attempt goalwards all half. The Milano fans can only hope it was a temporary brainloss from the young Vokovic. However, this is exactly what the veterans of FSL were expecting — a Milano downfall is most definitely on the cards.
This result sees Athens surge up the table all the way to 11th. Despite their mid-table placement, relegation is still a very real threat, as they've got a 2 point gap on Nomades de Paris & FC Berlin. Milano sit comfortably in mid-table with their 16 points and hope to return to form next matchday.
