MD 13: BRUSSELS KV 1-0 KS WARSAW

The Blue Waffles sneak past Warsaw in a silent game.

Written by: Crie Moore, Forta Evening News

It was a beautiful day in Belgium as the Blue Waffles take on Warsaw, the newly promoted side who have, so far, been overperforming as they sit in 10th. Brussels continue their hunt for top 4, as need to win to retain their placing.

As the teams walked out of the tunnel and on to the pitch, the fans were loud, and the game kicked off. Brussels were attacking, and had their chances, with Patrick Forder slightly missing a chance early on. In the 20th minute, Saiffedine Tijani sends in a cross, and Anto Vuković hits it on a Bicycle kick, which slams against the crossbar.

Nothing else really happened in the first half as the whistle blew for half-time, and the teams walked back into the locker rooms to get their team talks.

The second half kicked off and Warsaw looked more fired up as they had some chances but never managed to get a shot off. In the 75th minute, Warsaw conceded a free kick. Having played a good game so far, Vuković stepped up. Confident as ever, he put it in the top left corner, leaving the goalkeeper no chance.

Brussels got their much desired revenge on Warsaw, having been knocked out of the League Cup group due to their shortcomings. This result sees Brussels maintain their top four campaigns, whilst Warsaw fall all the way down to 12th.
