BRUSSELS KV 3 - 8 AD LISBOA: REVIEW
By: Saad Mann
AD Lisboa broke the Fantasy Sim League record by putting eight goals past newcomers Brussels KV - their second high goal tally game following their promotion.
After 15 minutes of play, the usual suspects Cagatay Yilmaz and Kalle Knull would link up to open the scoring. Knull put on an impressive display of his balance and agility as he twisted around Thomas Kringle, finishing the chance with his left foot. Before the game Marcus Wood had failed to impress the Lisboa faithful however, he'd silence the critics with a beautiful cutback to left winger Jamie Musson, who scored his first goal of his FSL career.
Lisboa thought it was all over, but as we've seen many times before in Brussels games - it wasn't. A sloppy pass from captain Matthew Lennon got intercepted and would eventually end up in the back of the net after a tidy finish from veteran Shirley Shaw. Lennon didn't take long to recover from his mistake, immediately playing a long ball to Kalle Knull who'd send Marcus Wood through to score his first of the game.
In the 50th minute Kalle Knull and Jamie Musson would engage in a bit of one-two buckle my shoe action, eventually sending Marcus Wood through 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper, a chance he just couldn't miss - he'd finish it off with a powerful effort into the top right corner. With the momentum on their side, Lisboa quickly won the ball back and sent Marcus Wood through on goal yet again, giving him his well earned hattrick.
As both teams were stunned by the scoreline, it would take another 30 minutes for the next goal to occur. Following a brilliant piece of play from the Brussels forward, Kwon 'broke' Lennon's ankles and scored with a tidy finish into the bottom corner.
