MATCH REVIEW: BRUSSELS KV vs NOMADES DE PARIS

by Ignacio Dorito

Coming into the final fixture of MD4, Brussels were 1 point ahead of Paris, who had drawn all 3 of their opening fixtures 1-1 and were hoping to build on that solid base to grab a first win of the season - expectations were high. However, the Belgians were ahead after just 9 minutes, captain and talisman Tijani finding himself in acres of space behind the French backline and rifling it to the left of Humphree Klock. Just 9 minutes later, as the entire stadium expected, the baguettes were back in contention thanks to Pussy Jackson's first goal in FSL, after 600 minutes of action. At this point, no one expected much more from the game, and for Paris to grind out a 4th 1-1 draw in a row. But once again, it would only take 10 minutes for the next goal. Chris Moke, a new signing for the Nomades in season 3, scored a copycat goal of Tijani's opener to give Paris a second goal for the first time this season. Suddenly the world was their oyster, not only were they on their way to a first win but they could go unbeaten in 4 as well - all in all a stellar opening to the season considering their relegation fight last year. And perhaps that complacency led Paris to fall asleep as half time drew ever-nearer. Tijani whipped in a ball from the edge of the box onto Emir's head in the 46th minute to make things even as the teams walked down the tunnel. Both teams happy with their performances so far, there were no tactical changes at half time, and the players re-emerged ready to go at it again in this enthralling encounter. After a tense 20 minutes, the deadlock was broken when defender Jan Markinhos converted Joestar's through ball with a beautiful first touch, and Brussels sealed the deal in the 89th when Tijani netted a second of the game - Brussels's 4th, and like that Paris's unbeaten streak was over and Brussels now have 2 consecutive wins and are looking like a team to beat.
