MD13: FC AMSTERDAM 1-2 NORDEN FK

✍️ Written by: Mal Pitz

Matchday 13 brought together FC Amsterdam and Norden FK in a clash that saw both teams battling for crucial points in the midtable.

The game started quietly, with both teams probing for opportunities. However, it wasn't until the 20th minute that Amsterdam began to apply pressure. Thanks to Norden goalkeeper Myung Choi's incredible saves, Norden managed to stay in the game.

In the 34th minute, Norden responded with their own offensive efforts. Bean initiated an attack, passing to Zacharias, but the delivery aimed at Bean sailed over, leading to a goal kick for Amsterdam.

As the teams headed into halftime, Amsterdam made a tactical change, bringing on David for Smith in an attempt to improve their fortunes. However, it was Norden who struck first in the 50th minute. Spitz attempted a left-footed shot, saved by Vert, but Shelby pounced on the rebound with a simple header, scoring his first FSL goal and giving Norden a 1-0 lead.

In the 60th minute, Amsterdam sought an equalizer as Vickers fed a pass to O’Neil, who attempted a volley that went just wide. Norden, determined to secure the win, doubled their lead in the 78th minute. Spitz delivered a brilliant pass to Odinson, who unleashed a powerful left-footed long shot into the top right corner, making it 2-0.

Amsterdam responded with urgency, bringing on Boruta for Wilson in an attempt to turn the tide. Their efforts paid off in the 82nd minute when Vickers passed to Blåtand, who scored a well-placed finish, providing Amsterdam with a late goal and a glimmer of hope at 2-1.

Despite Amsterdam's late surge, Norden held their ground. In the closing minutes, they applied more pressure, with Spitz and Bean creating opportunities. The match concluded with Norden securing a 2-1 victory, confirming their status as the favorites.

The standout performer of the match, earning the Man of the Match title, was Norden's Odinson, whose stunning left-footed long shot and overall impactful play played a crucial role in securing the win for his team. However, many fans will feel Myung Choi was robbed of the award.

This result sees Norden rise up the table to fourth, with Brussels and Madrid just behind them with a game in hand. On the contrary, Amsterdam could see a dramatic fall, with there being a three point gap between 15th and 10th.
