Desperate to find an equalizer Warsaw pushed forward with determination but their efforts were thwarted by a resolute Madrid defense and the safe hands of their goalkeeper. With this win Deportivo Madrid's fortunes took a positive turn as they climbed to 3rd place in the league standings firmly positioning themselves as contenders in the title race. On the other hand Warsaw slipped down the table to 7th place settling into midtable territory.
