Match Summary

Paris cannot capitalize on their cup success
By: Ray Porter

Paris’ went into this week excited about their knockout qualification, facing Berlin, who crashed out in the group.

The Frenchmen started into the game with their vigor, getting a chance through Lehmann, who chased a Semmi knock-on. However, the German lazily lost possession and thereby wasted his chance to score. In the 23rd minute, Freulerista started dribbling into the box, laying it off to Semmi, but the striker’s shot would have gone near the corner flag, if it wasn’t deflected. The ball narrowly missed the Berlin goal. The following corner kick was barely headed over by Hunt.

At half-time, Paris seemed the far better team, but their strikers were utterly wasteful of their chances. Will the adage of “if you don’t score your chances, your opponents will” hold true?

Yes, Berlin drove into the box courtesy of a fantastic Stefánsson dribbling, outsmarting three defenders. In the box he got a light tap on the ankle, falling as if he was struck by lightning. The ref blew for a penalty, despite the fact that the contact was minimal. Fantastico didn’t care, slotting it home into the bottom left corner.

Berlin kept the lead and extended their advantage in the league to four points.
