Paris 1-1 Vienna

Paris threaten Vienna's streak, but Hoffman saves it again

By: Domenico Jordano, Nightingale Press

After completing Season 2 as unbeaten champions, Vienna didn't stop and started new season with 2 victories against strong teams. It could look like it was over for Paris before it started. But the team that managed to edge relegation in the last matchday and equalize against Amsterdam on the last minutes isn't the one to give up easily. Paris unexpectedly took the lead on 19th minute, when Karl Lehmann kicked the ball into the Blues' net. Again, it looked like Vienna's defense controlled the situation, and centre-backs were keeping the ball in their sight, but they didn't notice Paris striker running out of their backs. Surprise goal from home side, league's favourites are down 1-0. Parisians really felt the smell of blood after threatening Austrians' streak and continued pressuring on away half. The grass was wet, and situation was slipping out of Kontinental's control, so Keetch had to kick a claret player's leg and get a yellow card to stop his attack. 1-0, Nomades lead on halftime. The main task Paris had for second half was to avoid their previous match scenario. Although Nomades were the one to equalize the score in the previous match and lead it to 1-1, Vienna could copy opponents' success in this match. Indeed, they almost equalized the score, but goalkeeper's best friend, the goalpost, saved the home team. The only hope was left on Hoffman. And he didn't let his teammates down! Moritz Hoffman scored a nice goal on the 69th minute and put Vienna's no-losing streak back to safety. 1 goal, 1 yellow card, 1-1 score - not the best, but definitely not the worst match for the Hope of Vienna. Both teams can be proud of this match. Vienna kept their unbeaten streak, Paris grabbed a point in a match with league's giants, and Moritz Hoffman on his own example has shown that hope never dies.
